An interview with Mark Abrams (audio files)
[New page: 22 March 2012: last updated 3 August 2015]
Dr Mark Abrams (1906 - 1994)
Biographical details, obituaries, publications, background to interview and explanation of transcripts
An interview with Mark Abrams (transcripts)
List of, and links to, the transcripts (pdf format)
I have edited the audio files from the original tapes and extracted separate audio files corresponding to each section of the transcript.. The cutting points are difficult to locate with complete precision, but they are pretty close. The files were originally in *.wav format and were to servers in Florida (courtesy of my son Richard). I have now converted them to *.mp3 format at 160 kbps and uploaded them to this site. The links have been checked and they all work,
On my machine (as of 3 August 2015) the files open immediately in Quicktime and, once they start to play, you can move the slder forwards and backwards to pause and restart or to skip forwards and backwards within any single file as it is playing.
On other machines they may take several minutes to download, but they will start to play automatically.

They are very much a beta version and we are working on options for users to download the files without playing them and also investigating ways of speeding up the streaming. One possibility is to break the files into short video clips (about 2 minutes each) and post them to YouTube. In these the sound would be accompanied by the relevant text and by associated photographs and other visual material. To see a test example, click on this link: http://youtu.be/5cbYSh8hLuw. The text is a bit blurred, but Terry Blom is experimenting with ways of improving this.
