New teaching resources from ESDS:
Cohort Study/Malaise Inventory
The 1970 British Cohort Study Malaise Inventory guide is based on the teaching datasets and associated resources created by the Centre for Longitudinal Studies. The guide includes information on how to access the data, an introduction to the established set of survey questions that measures psychological distress - the Malaise Inventory - and a number of data analysis exercises using SPSS. Round 5 dataset of European Social Survey (ESS) available to download
The dataset for Round 5 (2010) of the European Social Survey (ESS) is now available to download free of charge. All rounds of ESS have covered a core set of topics: political engagement; trust in institutions; moral and social values; social capital; social exclusion; national, ethnic and religious identity; well-being, health and security. Round 5 examined the following two topics:
1) Work, family and well-being. Areas covered include: the impact of the recession
on households and work; job security; housework; wellbeing; unemployment;
work-life balance; and
2) Trust in criminal justice. Areas covered include: confidence in the police and
the courts; cooperation with the police and the courts; contact with the
police; attitudes towards punishment. Read further
