There's a (2008) syllabus for Survey Research and Design with excellent reading list from North Carolina State
[Previously trawled courses offered in the UK]
MA/MSc Market and Social Research (School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages, University of Westminster)
This course provides professional training in the market and social research fields, designed around the needs of research professionals who wish to build a career in research or develop their existing knowledge and skills. The course allows you to opt for a postgraduate qualification with a qualitative focus (the MA) or a quantitative focus (the MSc), and aims to provide an integrated
academic understanding of the interlocking nature of research design contexts. The University of Westminster is one of the only two centres offering this course, which is professionally accredited by the Market Research Society (MRS). The accreditation allows successful students with at least two years’ research experience to become full members of the MRS and to be exempted from the
qualifying MRS exams.
MSc Survey Methods for Social Research (Sociology, University of Essex)
What methods are used to discover how people behave, what they believe and what opinions they hold? What sort of sampling techniques are needed to access different types of population? What is the best way to design a questionnaire? The MSc degree in Survey Methods for Social Research will provide answers to these questions and more. It will prepare you for a professional career in social, academic or market research.
MSc Social Research Methods (Sociology, City University)
The course offers practical training in social research methods and analysis which aims to equip students with an understanding and appreciation of both qualitative and quantitative research methods across a range of disciplines with technical competence in the use of leading edge technology.
MSc Social Research Methods, Social Research PgCert and Social Research PgDip
(Sociology, University of Surrey)
Social researchers work in a variety of settings, including commercial market research organizations, central and local government, and independent organizations such as charities, lobbying groups and trade unions. The social researcher calls on a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to explore attitudes and experiences and to understand large and small scale patterns of social behaviour. The MSc in Social Research Methods is designed to prepare students for this kind of work. The degree also forms an excellent foundation for conducting a PhD in social science, and many of our students do go on to study for a doctorate.
MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice
(Cambridge Marketing College)
Designed to provide a practical grounding in the principles and techniques which underpin effective research. The Advanced Certificate is designed for a wide range of people:
Dip MRS is a qualification recognised by major employers in the world of survey research. Some courses offer exemption from MRS exams (see below).
MA Applied Social and Market Research MSc Applied Social and Market Research
(School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages, University of Westminster)
